Lord, as in Roman times, there is a power of evil at work in the world, and it is an active force against all that is good and lovely and true. As in Roman times, we see it when wars break out, when authority at all levels is exercised in a tyrannical manner, when global corporations and governments exercise authoritarian controls to enhance power and wealth at the expense of individual freedom. We see it with pathological uses of biotechnology to control and reprogram the human genome contrary to natural processes. Lord, give us the faith to see that this power of evil does not have the last word. Love does. Decency does. Truth does. Honor does. Free exchange of information does. Keeping your word does, even when not advantageous. Lord, as in Roman times, give us the strength to fight tyranny exercised in the shadow of the Law and to preserve individual freedoms in our time. Amen.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being; We render thee our humble praises, for thy preservation of us from the beginning of our lives to this day. For these thy mercies, we bless and magnify thy glorious Name;

WE PRAY for all the organizations here in Maine providing support for pregnant women from a life affirming perspective, including crisis pregnancy centers, adoption support agencies, and foster homes and families; that you will protect and strengthen the operators and workers in those enterprises in the face of insults and violent attacks such as we are seeing around the country and here in Maine from people and groups who cannot tolerate anyone trying to help women who may not choose abortion.

FATHER, we pray for those women today who are laboring under the burden of guilt and remorse for the sin of abortion in their lives, and for those who need to repent, that their hearts will turn to you, that they will know you are merciful and are willing to forgive; show them their sins can be forgiven, for no sin is too grievous, and their burden can be lifted from them through Christ Jesus. May they find their rest in Him.

We pray for the President of these United States, and for the Governor of this State, all legislators and for all that are in authority; that all, and every one of them, may serve truly in their several callings to the glory of God, and the edifying and well-governing of the people, remembering the account they shall be called upon to give at the last great day.

GRACIOUS LORD, we pray for the women who face pregnancy under adverse circumstances or at times when being pregnant is not their wish, first that they will experience your love and your mercy, and also that you will move in their hearts so that in seeking to live through that experience they have the courage and the conscience not to take the supposed easy way out by the destruction of the human being whose life within them is so vulnerable to their decisions.

WE PRAY, Heavenly Father, that we in the prolife movement and all compassionate people take action to protect innocent human lives and to nurture and help pregnant women to make life affirming decisions with the resources and help that they need.
We praise you, Lord, for all the adopted children and all the adopting parents who have overwhelmingly shown the blessings of adoption, the commitment and generosity of spirit that has supported the preservation of myriad lives that might otherwise have been destroyed.
